Positive Reinforcement Strategies
1. Keep it simple. 2. Keep in inexpensive! 3. Make sure it can be given immediately. 4. Make sure the child doesn't have an alternative way to get that incentive. 5. Make sure it won't make things worse. 6. Make sure it does not take too much of your time to give the reward.
Proactive Ways to Improve Compliance 1. Say start instead of stop. 2. Use a clear directive (not a question). 3. Make eye contact. 4. Shorten the distance. 5. Use a soft but firm voice. 6. Build behavior momentum. 7. Give descriptive directions. 8. Demand the possible. 9. Time: Wait five seconds. 10. Only twice! 11. Remain calm. 12. Reinforce compliance.
