Dear Parents,                                                                                     

v      Registration for the 2008-2009 school year is currently taking place for all Kinder and First grade students.  If you have a child that is currently in PreK4 or Kinder, please come by the office to sit down and pre-register your child for the next school year.  Classes are filling very quickly!

v      All 2008-2009 PreK3 and PreK4 registration will take place at central office in July or August.  See your Kingsville Record for dates and times.

v       Kinder and First Grade students will be taking the TPRI Test May 5-9, 2008.

v      We will only release your child to those you designate on the emergency card.  Please  

             do not call asking us to release your child to someone who is not on your child’s

              emergency card.  If you need to add someone to the emergency card, please do so

              now.

v      PreK4 graduation will tentatively take place on May 16, 2008, at 9:00 a.m.

v      Mr. Franklin White will be doing a presentation on diabetes for anyone who would like to attend.  More information is on the back of this parent letter.

v       Tentative Dates:  May 19-23, 2008, will be 50’s week. Your child will need a program

             costume.  Girls will wear poodle skirts and a white shirt.  Boys will wear blue jeans and a

             white t-shirt.  This week long celebration will include grade level programs and awards

             ceremonies.  Sewing machines are available at the Family Involvement Center.

v      ITBS Testing will take place for kinder and first grade students on April 15, 16, 17, and 18, 2008.  Please encourage your child to get a good night sleep.  Please have your child at school at 7:30 a.m. so that he/she can eat breakfast and begin testing.

 

v      All first grade students have taken the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT).  This test   determines if a student will continue to the next step of the Gifted and Talented screening.  If your child qualifies for the GT program, the school counselor will be contacting you in the future.

 

v      Caution!  Do not drop your child off at the curb and drive off!  For your child’s safety, escort your child to his/her classroom and deliver him/her to your child’s teacher or teacher assistant.

In order for the day to run as smoothly as possible, we are asking if you could please help out by letting us know if you plan on bringing in a lunch for your child or if you are ordering from the cafeteria.  A notice was sent home asking if you were interested in buying a lunch from the cafeteria, but we need to know if you are bringing in a lunch for you and your child.
